United States The 2007 Red Book Guide of United States Coins (Spiral) is a 417-page reference book for numismatists. It provides information about the value of old and rare coins and the price at which collectors can purchase them from dealers. The magazine was first published in 1946 and quickly became the most valued guide among numismatists. It includes prices for more than 6,000 coins in addition to comprehensive information about them and their history. The guide is colorful, offering more than 700 photographs and up-to-date information about new mintages, such as the state quarters. Coin issues are divided in Pre-federal, Federal, Bullions, US Pattern Pieces and Others while separate Appendices give information about errors, the top 250 auction prices and information about the Red Book itself. The Glossary provides useful clarifications related to numismatic terms. Known as "the Bible of the Hobby," the Red Book is one of the bestselling nonfiction books. It is spiral-bound, available both in paperback and hardcover, and it is published by Whitman Publishing.
