Christian Retailing is a must have for Christian related products retailers as a source of in-depth information and assistance about Christian books, films, multimedia, gifts etc. For many years this award-winning magazine has helped these retailers, both novices and old timers, to better serve their customers. Furthermore, Christian Retailing magazine publishes useful guides, tips and advice about the management of the retail business. Lately the magazine also focuses on some newer issues such as home-schooling or the increase of charismatic fiction titles. One of the newest and most popular columns is “Mystery Shopper”- it includes the impressions and the critiques of “uncovered” Christian Retailing staffers who visit Christian stores around the United States and review the stores’ inventory, merchandise, employees, design, etc. In 1999 Christian Retailing magazine introduced a separate title as an addition to the magazine focusing exclusively on Christian gifts. With the overall economic crisis and the decline in the Christian gift industry, the addition was discontinued in 2002 only to be recently reintroduced due the current economic rebound. The magazine was started in January of 1955 by Robert Walker and Bill Petersen and is now published bi-weekly by Strang Communications.
