The Columbia Journalism Review is a bi-monthly magazine by and for journalists, published by the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University. The publication was established in 1961 with the purpose of helping to create a society with free and objective media, criticizing where it is needed and praising where it is deserved. The journal reviews printed and electronic media, their work, commentaries, methods and ethics in general, as this is one of the major industry problems today. Columbia Journalism Review's publisher gives the journal an exceptional authority among media critics, raising the standards of journalism and increasing the sense of community among journalists. Columbia Journalism Review has over 19 000 subscribers and 6 000 of them are students.
