Artful in Paris

Standout exhibitions ring in the new year in Paris. “Mondrian/de stijl,” at the centre Pompidou, examines the figures who shaped the movement, both renowned-mondrian and rietveld-and lesser known-Vantongerloo and Van der Deck(December 1 to March 21, 2011; centrepompidou.fr). Neoclassicism, from the swoony visions of Henry Fuseli to the heroic grandeur of Jacques-Louis David, is the subject of the Louvre's “antiquity rediscovered: innovation and resistance in the 18th century” (December 2 to February 14, 2011; Louvre.fr). “Henry Moore: the studio, sculptures, and drawings,” at the musee Rodin, focuses on a British artist ripe for reappraisal (through February 27, 2011; musee-Rodin.fr).
